I am interested in repairing LCD monitors. The thing is that once I have diagnosed the problem, where will I find the spare parts like backlight etc. I live in Sydney, Australia

Most manufacturers will not release parts to individuals, and if they did the price would be unreasonable.
If it’s under warranty use it, if not simply buy a new one

Most LCD Problems are inverter boards. you can look on Ebay for them I know. Some shops also offer repair of individual parts. Most of the problems with the inverters are capacitor related. You can often see the blown out tops. I recommend you check out the transistors in those curcuits if you plan on trying to fix it yourself.
