Question by stanli121: I have an Intel E6600 2.4ghz processor and I have a question about cooling?
I bought the package with the fan in it and the package came and it just had a fan and the processor, no thermal paste. The instructions dont mention, or show, putting on thermal paste before installing it and turning it on so I am wondering whether I need it or not.

Also, what is the optimal running temperature of this processor?

I believe with most Core 2 Duos, there is a thermal pad already on the bottom of the heat sink, so you don’t need additional paste.
